International skill competitions 2022 in Bolzano 

WorldSkills Competition 2022 Special Edition from 3rd to 6th November 2022 at the Bolzano Exhibition Center (FieraMesse)

This year's 46th International Skill Competitions will take place in 15 different countries and regions in Europe, North America and East Asia. The competitions will be held between September and November 2022. Italy is one of the 15 member countries that will host the "WorldSkills Competition 2022 - Special Edition" competitions in 2022.

WorldSkills Italy as host - Skill competition of tilers and painters

Bolzano will host the two vocational competitions for wall and floor tilers and painters and decorators. The competitions will take place at the Bolzano Exhibition Centre (at the same time as the Autumn Fair) and will start on Thursday, 3^rd of November and last for a total of 4 days, until Sunday, 6^th of November 2022.

26 participants from 19 different countries have registered for the competitions and in total we are expecting hundreds of guests from abroad in Bolzano. Apart from South Tyrol/Italy, the participants come from Brazil, China, Denmark, Germany, England, Finland, France, India, Kazakhstan, Colombia, Korea, Namibia, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Taiwan, Hungary and the United Arab Emirates.

Wall and Floor Tiling and Mosaic Laying Competition (SKILL 12)

In the professional competition for wall and floor tiling and mosaic laying, 13 candidates from all over the world compete against each other and have to make a structure of tiles with a motif in four days according exactly to measurements and drawings.

Competition project: The design of the competition task is based on the mountain landscapes and the colors of South Tyrol. The participants' task is to design two walls and lay a floor within four days based on a drawing. The test project also includes a three-dimensional masonry work.

Some facts & figures on the scale of the event in Bolzano

• 7,825 kg of tile adhesive, mortar, primer, etc. are required
• 2,564 pieces of workbenches, tools, machines, materials etc. have to be delivered
• 895m² of tiles and floor covering for the floor are required for the 13 competition participants

Painters and Decorators Competition (Skill 22) 

In the painters' and decorators' professional competition, 13 candidates from all over the world compete against each other and have to complete various tasks in four days, these are:

• Decoration design and lettering
• Painting a door
• Wallpapering
• Free technique – to demonstrate personal skills
• Painting colour stripes (speed competition)

Some facts & figures on the scale of the event in Bolzano

• 3,164 pieces of workbenches, ladders, wallpaper, paints, varnish, buckets, stirrers, mixes, etc. are needed
• 350m² of painted walls and masking film must be supplied for the 13 competition participants
